MailVault ยท last updated November 1, 2026
MailVault is a personal desktop app used only by its owner. This policy explains what it does with Google account data.
What data MailVault accesses
With the account owner's permission, MailVault uses Google's Gmail access to read the email in that account: messages, headers, and attachments.
Where the data goes
All email is stored only on the owner's own computer and the owner's own backup drives. MailVault has no server. It does not send email content, account data, or usage information to MailVault, to the developer, or to any third party. It does not use the data for advertising, and it does not sell or share it.
The sign-in credentials Google issues are stored only on the owner's computer.
Changes to the Gmail account
MailVault only changes the Gmail account when the owner presses a button to do so: it can move older messages that are already backed up to Gmail's Trash. It never runs this on its own.
Use of Google data
MailVault's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Removing access
Access can be revoked at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Deleting MailVault's folder on the computer removes all data it stored.
Contact
